11/05/08 - Season 5 Summary
After a very strong start to the season, the Runners slip away at the end of the campaign with a series of losses culminating in a first round playoff defeat against the South Yorkshire Stars. With changes afoot ahead of Season 6 in the game mechanics and league membership, the next season should be an interesting one.
09/17/08 - Personnel Changes
A series of personnel changes for the Bow Street Runners ahead of Season 5 in the newly expanded Dial 7 Stadium. Cathdrien Waterfall, Ffarren Branchstrength, Jimmy Ingleman, Craig Buckerwoo, and The Messiah have all left the squad ahead of pre-season training. Waterfall's position as starting TE will be taken on by Talesin Ironfoot while the loss of the other players will impact depth and Special Teams more than anything else.
09/16/08 - Season 4 Done
A successful Season 4 in the end for the Bow Street Runners who advanced to the Alpha championship game, defeating IKK Fu Mutineers and South Yorkshire Stars before eventually falling to the Belfast Commandos. A second consecutive championship game despite being underdogs throughout the playoffs was a nice reward.
Some players were highlighted for their contribution to the team in Season 4 including Offensive Player of the Year Tyron Dust, Defensive Player of the Year Slash Braveheart, Most Improved Player Wallid Ismael, and Most Valuable Player Thads Stronginthearm.
09/02/08 - Regular Season Over
The 4th regular season of Goal Line Blitz has concluded and the Runners have again made the playoffs after finishing 6th in Western Europe AA#4 Alpha. A final week victory over the Dublin Fighting Irish confirmed the seeding and Bow Street will now go on to face the South Yorkshire Stars in the first round of the playoffs. The Stars defeated the Bow Street Runners 34-17 when the two teams met in week 4.
08/26/08 - Two Departures
Two players have departed the Bow Street Runners team following expiration of their contracts. Mr Austria was an original player with the squad before it was taken on by the Bow Street management while right now was traded for very early on in the team's development. While neither player started often, the Runners wish both well in their future GLB careers.
08/15/08 - Slash Returns
The Runners have had a difficult start to the new season but two positive developments in the form of a big win over the Port St Lucie Knuckle Dusters and now the return of an old favorite have boosted morale. Slash Braveheart who left the Bow Street Runners at the end of Season 3 has come back to the team for at least the rest of the season. Slash bolsters a Defensive Back group that has been undermanned since his departure. Runners management hope for more great things from Braveheart this season.
07/29/08 - Two More Roster Changes
With the pre-season scrimmages impending, two more roster changes are confirmed for the Bow Street Runners. Starting Cornerback Slash Braveheart departed the team to join the African Killer Frogs. Slash, an ever present and winner of one game ball, will be missed by the squad but the emergence of Demon Shye and Hoe Deep as quality cover men should mitigate the loss somewhat.
Joining the team to replace Valen Swift is Tyler Blackstar ex of the Syracuse Soul. We anticipate that Blackstar will be the man to fill Swift's hole and to come through for the team in clutch situations.
07/24/08 - Valen Swift Released
Backup Quarterback Valen Swift was today released from the Bow Street Runners at his request. Swift compiled over 2,000 passing yards in his two seasons with the Runners, throwing 13 TDs. We all wish him the very best of luck in his search for a starting position elsewhere on Goal Line Blitz.
07/19/08 - Conference Championship Loss
The Runners lose out to the Frankfurt Crusaders 6-36 in a game that was about to be 6-9 until an interception and a 66 yard TD with 2 seconds left on the clock took the game out of reach. The loss means that the Bow Street Runners will remain in Western Europe AA#4 Alpha again next season and will look forward to renewing existing rivalries.
07/17/08 - Runners Win Again
A superb 29-13 win over the Glasgow Lions takes the Bow Street Runners into the Conference Championship where they will meet the undefeated Frankfurt Crusaders. The win against Glasgow was a fine all-round performance against a team that finished with an identical 13-3 record during the regular season. The Runners are clearly the outsiders against Frankfurt but anything is potentially possible and a win would seal a remarkable promotion.
07/15/08 - Playoff Win
The Bow Street Runners first ever playoff victory comes at with a 27-20 win at home to the IKK Fu Mutineers. A tremendous game starts out with a kickoff return for TD and the Runners hold on despite a late Mutineers comeback for the win and the right to meet the Glasgow Lions in the semi-finals.
07/14/08 - Playoff Bound
After winning the final game of the season 27-6 against
Munich Hofbräuhaus from Zeta Conference, the Bow Street Runners have confirmed their best league finish to date with 2nd in Western Europe AA#4 Alpha. A season record of 13-3 seeing the team make massive strides from their first term in the league.
The IKK Fu Mutineers await now in the first round of the playoffs. A team that underperformed in the regular season may well have been gearing themselves up for a playoff run and will not be an easy match.
06/13/08 - Great Start
An incredible start to the new season for the Bow Street Runners sees them absolutely thrash the Limerick Vikings 82-7. Records in abundance for the team who rush for 545 yards, smack 94 pancakes score 10 TDs, intercept the Vikings 7 times, score twice on Defense, and run one kickoff back for a score.
The games will undoubtedly not be as one-sided in the Runners favour through the season but for all concerned this is a tremendous beginning and one that sets the team up for a great season. Last time out against the Vikings, the Runners managed only a narrow 23-17 win so the result is a massive morale boost.
06/11/08 - New Schedule
The schedule for the Bow Street Runners new season is up. The Runners start out with a home game against the Limerick Vikings before a fairly well balanced set of difficult and easier fixtures. The cross conference match against
Munich Hofbräuhaus is winnable but still a test.
The Runners will be keen to find their way back to the playoffs again this season and do better than their 9-7 record last time out. The full schedule can be seen here.
06/07/08 - Stadium Upgrade
Stadium upgrades were announced today by Chief Financial Officer Daefaroth. When pressed, Daefaroth stated: "Yuppers, with the loan taken we've got 3 corners in the works"
The stadium upgrade is believed to see development of the Covent Garden ground capacity to allow more fans to see the Runners in action. Sellouts throughout last season encouraged the team to build on their support and give back to the local community.
06/06/08 - Billy Sean McGlinchy Cut :
The first player to be released from the Runners was cut loose today. Billy Sean McGlinchy signed with the team in time for Game 2 of Season 1 against the Marseille Argonauts. He played in 12 games but was inactive throughout and did not add any value to the Runners community.
A statement from owner MLA commented: "I'm reluctant to cut players but those who aren't even logging on and are clearly not interested are the types of players that we will cut."
05/29/08 - Season Over:
The end of the first successful season of Bow Street Runners activity came with a crushing playoff defeat at the Frankfurt Crusaders. The
German team just too strong for the Runners this time round and it brings to an end the Runners debut.
Team members considered the season to have been a quality one with the aims of building a team with the right spirit and endeavour having been met.
05/25/08 - Website Launched:
The Bow Street Runners website is now up. Still in development but at least it is a start. The website will contain news, info, and stats on the Runners progress through Goal Line Blitz.
